This thesis deals with a Swedish shopping centre, NOVA, from a phenomenological point of view. Starting in my own experience of the architecture I discuss issues such as gender, consumerism and the image of the ideal society, the Heterotopia, as they appear to me in my studies of the building.Divided into three different themes I then discuss the aspects I?ve found through my meeting with the architecture in comparison to a number of texts on the subject.My phenomenological analysis, combined with earlier research, presents to me a number of aspects more evident than others, as I do my own interpretation of the building and its architecture..

This thesis deals with our heritage and the care of old buildings. In order to limit this vast area a specific attention has been brought upon the process of giving buildings a certain level of protection and after decision having it taken away, instead of giving a stronger protection level.Further limitation has been done through the choice of four buildings in Lund, within Lund University campus. These buildings all lost this certain level of protection. The participants in these kinds of cases have a level of power, what argumentation did they use?The methods being used are discourse analysis, phenomenology and the daily methods of the building care field..

This thesis is a case study that analyses the seaside resort Ystad Sandskog and its private architecture between 1850 and 1940. The multitude is evident in the area's architecture. The architectural development is analysed with the use of a social historical perspective, including class and hegemony. Regional as well as national affective factors are used in the analysis. Aside from the social aspects, architectural ideological developments, general development of the seaside resort and the area's committee with its prescriptions are all factors considered.By dividing the development in four different chronological phases, which all represents a certain architectural expression exemplified by a selection of buildings and the social class that it accompanies, a culmination in the architectural structural development of Sandskogen is shown.

Den 29 april 1955 beslutade stadsfullmäktige i Lund om rivning av rådhuset vid Stortorget. Beslutet hade föregåtts av en debatt om rivning kontra bevarande som berörde både hög och låg bland stadens invånare. Engagemanget var stort. Jag har i den här uppsatsen försökt att skildra debatten, kulturklimatet vid tiden och orsaken till att rådhuset faktiskt fortfarande står kvar år 2006. Med denna byggnad som exempel på tidig funktionalism diskuteras denna stilriktning och dess historiska referenser med ett fokus på relationen till klassicismen. Uppsatsen inleds med ett avsnitt om arkitekten Sven Markelius och en beskrivning av konserthusets tillkomst. Genom frågeställningarna eftersträvar jag att ta reda på vilka argument och ord som förts fram i debatten samt om orden har någon betydelse i sammanhanget.Metoden som används för att få svar på frågorna är diskursanalys samt den analysmodell som Jennie Lippner utvecklat. De tre grupper som undersökts, politiker, kommun-tjänstemän samt allmänhet, uttrycker sig alla på liknande sätt med välformulerat språk och väl valda argument. De diskurser som kunnat urskiljas är den modernistiska, ekonomiska samt antikvariska.

Religious theater or erotic sculpture? A study of how the sculpture group Ecstasy of Saint Teresaand the Cornaro chapel have been described and used in literature of art history.This study aims to investigate how the sculpture group Ecstasy of Saint Teresa and the Cornarochapel has been written about and presented in literature about art history. The method has been tostudy literature, to visit the Cornaro chapel, and to make comparisons between pictures, texts andown experiences.The questions set out to be answered was; How has the Cornaro chapel and the Ecstasy of SaintTeresa been described and interpreted in literature of art history? What kind of pictures are beingused to illustrate the chapel? What is in focus and what is withheld in the presentation of the chapel,in text and in pictures? Is it possible to see a change, in how art historians write about the Cornarochapel, over time?Reading and comparing the texts and pictures that illustrates the literature, makes visible how thebaroque period, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Teresa av Avila and the Cornaro chapel has been presented inthe chosen literature, and answered the questions.The similarities between the Cornaro chapel and a theater stage, Bernini's interest in the theaterand his devout Catholicism, as well as the Counter-reformation's use of art to reach their goal ofmaking people more devout to Catholicism, is in focus. The erotic overtones in the sculpture groupare being withheld as well as Bernini's personality.

Uppsatsen behandlar officersboställen i Skåne från indelningsverkets tid (1682-1901), med särskild inriktning på byggnadsvårds- och bevarandefrågor samt på tillämpningen av lagstiftningen kring byggnadsminnen och annan kulturhistoriskt värdefull bebyggelse.Uppsatsens tidsmässiga fokus ligger på 1850-talet. Den bygger på arkiv- och fältstudier kring det trettiotal av Skånes 50 officersboställen som har karaktärshus uppförda enligt de av militären fastställda typritningarna. Mer detaljerade undersökningar, uppmätningar och foto­grafering har genomförts kring tre välbevarade boställen, Örsjö, Månstorp och Hjälmshult. Uppfölj­ningar har också gjorts kring fem boställen som har genomgått mer om­fattande och inte helt önskvärda förändringar. The main focus for this essay is to describe the relationship between human and nature through a material investigation that takes its shape through sculpture. With the help of a fairytale-like story the reader can share the creation of the sculpture and how my thoughts flow through the process that will result in an exam project. Rooted in earlier projects I discuss the crash between civilization and the wilderness as well as talking about the likeness of the creative process and child play. I also discuss the body's place in the forest and the loneliness that we humans created that has cut us off from the rest of the creatures and plants in the forest. My aim is that in the final piece I will create a fiction place where these can be joined together again.
